Julie Alderton

Julie was a Business Adviser for Business Link for London, responsible for delivering human resource services to small and medium sized enterprises. Projects focused on business strategy, human resource strategy, recruitment, learning and development, management development, performance management, employee engagement and Investors in People accreditation. Prior to this role Julie worked in both the private and public sectors including a senior position for a software house.

Julie is a consultant to a number of organisations supporting them in maximising the contribution of their human resources on business success Julie has a first degree in Public Policy and Management and a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management and is a Graduate Member of the CIPD. She holds a specialist practitioner licence for Investors in People and is accredited by the Small Firms Executive Development Initiative (SFEDI). In addition Julie is listed on Business Link national consultants database.

Bonita Hopkins

Bonita Hopkins

Bonita has taught employment law, employee relations and resourcing on the Postgraduate Diploma in HRM/D at South Bank and Birkbeck Universities and Croydon College, and is a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Westminster on the MA in Personnel & Development.

Prior to entering teaching Bonita held senior HR positions in the public sector (Phoenix House, the Carr Gomm Society) and private sector (Richard Ellis Chartered Surveyors, The Woolwich Building Society).

Bonita's knowledge and skills include employment law with particular emphasis on recent EU and UK employment legislation, TUPE transfers and discrimination law; recruitment and selection; employee relations in both unionised and non-unionised environments; training and development and reward management. Bonita holds an MA in Industrial Relations (Keele) and a PGCE (Greenwich) and is a Chartered Member of the CIPD.

Aidan Hughes

Aidan Hughes

Aidan has over 15 years experience in the Learning and Development field. After qualifying as a college lecturer with a PGCE from the University of Greenwich, Aidan spent two years as a Lecturer in Business at The Henley College. Since then he has held various posts with organisations including the Police, Local Authorities, Private Healthcare and Financial Services. All of these posts have involved the design and delivery of leadership and management related learning some of which has been accredited with the Institute of Leadership and Management and BTEC. All of the programmes have been developed with the needs of the learners and the organisation being the most important consideration. Recent programmes delivered by Aidan include, Customer Care, Performance Management, Strategy, Appraisal, Communications, Change management, Supervisory Skills and Train the Trainer.

Aidan's strongest area is undoubtedly the facilitation of Leadership and Management programmes and it is an area that he is passionate about. Aidan has been involved in the design and implementation of several Learning and Development strategies and has also been involved in managing several Investor in People accreditations and re-accreditations.

In terms of his own professional development Aidan has completed several post-graduate qualifications culminating in a Masters Degree in Management Learning and Leadership from Lancaster University. Aidan is a Member of the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI) and a qualified user of SHL Psychometric Testing tools.

Richard Huw

Richard Huw

Richard provides training in confidence, communication and presentation skills for corporate groups and individuals.

He trained at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has been acting professionally ever since. He was a member of the BBC radio repertory company and has toured in theatres across the country. He played Peter Pan at Bristol Old Vic and Romeo at the Young Vic in London.

The majority of his work is now in television. He has been a regular in TV series such as Van der Valk, Sleepers and M.I.T. Other well known shows include Eastenders, Coronation Street, The Bill, Casualty, Doctors, Heartbeat, Foyle's War, Holby City and Silent Witness. He appeared in the feature film Stormbreaker, for which he was the Alex Pettyfer's Acting Coach. Richard is also a voice-over artist for documentaries and commercials.

Janice Laurie

Janice Laurie

Janice facilitates and directs summer schools all over the UK and she is a co-founder of Dramalab which provides drama workshops for both children and adults.

She trained at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. For many years she worked in theatres around Scotland and the north of England. She has recorded numerous radio plays for the BBC and her TV work includes The Bill and Dangerfield.

Janice has appeared in many productions with The EDT Theatre company, including productions in London, Edinburgh, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. In addition, she has appeared seven times at the Edinburgh Festival.

Jacqueline McHugh

Jacqueline is a former Police Officer with over 15 years experience of front line policing in operational, managerial, training and staff development roles. Jacqueline worked closely with schools, colleges and organisations promoting personal safety awareness and management both in the work place and in personal situations to empower people to take control of potentially threatening situations and to reduce fear. Now a talented Personal Safety Trainer, Jacqueline uses her skills, qualifications and real life experience to offer solutions to a diverse audience.

Arlaine Rhodes

Arlaine Rhodes is an experienced HR and training professional who has taught on HR and management programmes for both public and private sector organisations.

Prior to teaching Arlaine held senior posts with a number of established companies within the financial services sector. These include senior positions with Smith & Williamson Chartered Accountants, Bank of Ireland (GB), Foreign & Colonial and Fidelity Investments. Prior to her financial services experience, Arlaine was a Consultant with Sundridge Park Management Centre (part of PA Consulting Group) providing in-company and open management and leadership programmes.

Arlaine is a Chartered Member of the CIPD and holds a Certificate in Education (Post Compulsory Education and Training), Masters Degree in Human Resource Management, and the British Psychological Society Levels A and B in Occupational Testing.

Carlos Ribeiro

With his expertise in financial management, Carlos Ribeiro is an ideal leader for our finance courses. He is adept at explaining complex financial systems in a straightforward and lucid manner. With his upbeat and positive style, he is skilled in teaching at all levels, whether beginner or advanced.

Carlos has a wide experience of corporate finance having held several senior posts at the Ford Motor Company. Prior to this he was an analyst at several banks including Bear Stearns, Banco Internacional do Funchal and Banco Portugues de Investimento, as well as holding positions in Barclays de Zoete Wedd and Ernst & Young.

With an MBA from the London Business School and a Certificate in Higher Education, Carlos teaches extensively at Middlesex University Business School, London South Bank University, Caas Business School and the London Business School.

Fiona Wheeler

Fiona Wheeler

A freelance trainer and consultant, Fiona has a wealth of experience having worked on projects for private, public and voluntary sector clients including Age Concern UK and the NHS. As a qualified teacher she has taught business and management qualifications at Croydon College for clients such as London Underground.

Fiona holds a Certificate in Education (Surrey), SFEDI accreditation for advising businesses, and postgraduate diplomas in marketing and HRD. She is a Chartered Member of the CIPD for whom she is Course Director for the Foundation Certificate in Human Resource Practice programmes and a visiting lecturer for the Masters Programme at London South Bank University.

Fiona began her career in marketing, working for the Sun Alliance Group and Lloyds TSB. She subsequently worked for Business Link as a Corporate Business Adviser supporting the South East Coast Strategic Health Authority and Surrey County Council

With her particular expertise in learning and development, Fiona is an excellent trainer and communicator.
